The newly built Anfu Temple is located on Cogswell Road in El Monte. On behalf of Hsi Lai Temple and the Chinese Buddhist temples in the Los Angeles area, Master Huidong congratulated Anfu Temple for coming to Los Angeles to promote Buddhism. He said that the world and the world are advancing in science and technology, but people’s hearts are full of anxiety, contradictions and conflicts, and there are many natural disasters that will affect our lives, so he hopes to slowly change our world through the promotion of Buddhism. He said that Anfu Temple’s coming to Los Angeles to promote Buddhism coincides with the original intention of Master Xingyun, the founder of Xilai Temple.
As the first abbot of Anfu Temple in Los Angeles, Master Tazhao expressed his gratitude to the great sages and believers of each temple for their support. He said that Buddhist research has a complete system and still has an important enlightenment effect on today’s society. He became a monk in 1989 and has been a monk for 36 years. During this period, he has focused on studying the three most distinctive sects among the eight major sects of Chinese Buddhism. He hopes that Chinese Buddhism will further develop on the basis of its current good foundation in various parts of the United States.
China Anfu Temple is located in Tiansheng Mountain, Wencheng County, Wenzhou City. It was first built in the third year of Yuanhe (808 AD, 1,200 years ago) by Emperor Xianzong of the Tang Dynasty. Historically, more than 20 eminent monks have presided over the monastery and promoted Buddhism. During the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty alone, eminent monks such as Mingzhen and Dexin were stationed there.
Master Dazhao said that Anfu Temple in Los Angeles will hold long-term lectures in the future to comprehensively promote Buddhism from teachings to meditation to worshiping Buddha.
San Gabriel Mayor Wu Chengyuan, El Monte City Councilmember Sheila Crippen Thomas, El Monte Mountain View School District Board of Education Wu Mengzhen, former Monterey Park Mayor Lin Dajian, Xilai University President Xie Minghua and more than 200 Buddhist believers from all over Southern California attended the consecration ceremony that day. Master Huidong, the abbot of Xilai Temple in Los Angeles, Master Tazhao, the abbot of Anfu Temple, Master Hongzheng, the abbot of Fayin Temple, Master Tongzhi, the abbot of Dongchan Temple in New York, Master Xinyuan, the abbot of Miaojue Temple in Los Angeles, Master Xingren, the abbot of Meifo Temple, and Master Xiuhui, the abbot of Guanyin Temple, blessed the opening ceremony.
